Radiographer Student Helper

Band 2 £23,362 - £25,368 per annum

3 month summer post

(June to August dates negotiable)

Plus £1,279 Distant Islands Allowance per annum

37 hours per week

We are looking a highly motivated, hard working, enthusiastic student radiographer to work in our busy radiology department over the summer months. This is not a formal student placement but would be suitable for radiography students who may wish to gain additional experience in all aspects of working in a general radiology department.

You will have the opportunity to work in a state of the art department with a friendly team of radiographers and sonographers dedicated to providing a high quality radiographic service to the Western Isles population.

Together with undertaking general clerical and chaperoning duties, you will have the opportunity to observe qualified radiographers working with DR, CR and Digital Fluoroscopy, Multislice CT, National PACS and Carestream RIS. 

NHS Western Isles Radiology is supported by an innovative Radiology Obligate Network with NHS Borders. This provides out of hours cover for the Western Isles substantive or locum consultant together with second opinion and peer support for our clinical staff.

The is situated in Stornoway on the beautiful of in the . The island is served by excellent communications links with the Scottish mainland and is ideally situated for a wide range of cultural and outdoor leisure activities.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
