What’s the job?


This is an exciting opportunity to the join the Regulation department in a varied and stimulating role. 


ICAS issues a range of permits, licenses, certificates and other authorisations to individuals and firms, covering different areas of work. The Regulatory Authorisation Team works closely with Authorisation Committee to ensure all decisions in connections with these licences etc are taken in accordance with ICAS’ Regulation.


As Regulatory Authorisations Manager, you will provide governance support and guidance to the Head of Regulatory Authorisations and members of the Authorisation Committee. Accountability will include the management of the Committee’s meetings, oversee assembly of Committee papers, management of Committee cases, preparing and monitoring correspondence to/from the Committee, and publication of any decisions and outcomes.  


In addition, you will work alongside the team to support members and firms in relation to issues arising from licensing applications, changes, and other matters in accordance with applicable legislation, Rules, Regulations, and guidance. 


Who do we need?


We are looking for an experienced solicitor, either qualified or qualified with experience, ideally with awareness of professional organisations.


Working directly with Head of Regulatory Authorisations and other colleagues we need a team player to join a small but high functioning team.


You should be a confident and clear communicator with proven ability to explain matters clearly both written and verbally.  


An ability to self-manage, a questioning mindset and attention to detail to see improvements will be key to make the role a success.


The role offers a great opportunity to take ownership and add value to our Regulatory team and service important functions of the Authorisation Committee.


Key accountabilities


One of two Regulatory Authorisations Managers, you will play the lead role in all matters reported to Authorisation Committee including all papers and follow-up, including potential appeals and referrals.


Work alongside colleagues to ensure effective handling of regulatory authorisation or related policy queries, including complex queries.  


Liaise with other ICAS staff and teams to deliver continuous improvement and reform. 


Support collation of data, statistical and management information relating to regulatory authorisations, and reporting to the Authorisation Committee, or to the Regulation board and internal/external stakeholders as required by the Management team.
