Relief Archaeological Site Assistant – ORCA

Hours offered on an as and when required basis
£15.26 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate

The Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology (ORCA) wishes to add suitably qualified, well-motivated and experienced Archaeological Site Assistants to its list of supply staff, to carry out archaeological excavation, recording and post-excavation processing and any other duties as directed by the Project Officer.

The unit is housed within the Archaeology Institute of UHI Orkney, a partner in the UHI.

ORCA operates across the Highlands and Islands Region and applicants are sought from this area. It provides a wide range of archaeological services, both commercial and research based, to the islands and northern Scotland.

Applicants require a degree in Archaeology or related subject, with at least 3 months’ experience of archaeological fieldwork.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
