The Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) is an executive agency of His Majesty's Treasury (HM Treasury), established in April 2015 to improve the quality of internal audit provided to central government.
About the Team
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and busy governance team, based within the Corporate Services division. The team provides a wide range of corporate governance services.

About the Job
This is a high-profile role which is crucial to the delivery of effective assurance to the Accounting Officer (the Chief Executive) on the management of risk, assurance and internal controls within
the Agency. The post holder will have responsibility for the risk and assurance processes within the Agency, and implementation and management of the Risk Control Framework that provides reliable
evidence to underpin the assessment for the annual Governance Statement.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Development and oversight of the Agency's assurance environment and control framework.

  • Leading on the management and development of the Agency's approach to risk management.

  • Providing regular risk and assurance reports to the Agency's Governance bodies.

  • Secretary to the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee, a Committee of the Agency Board.

  • Line management of the Risk & Assurance Officer.

  • Ensuring that all the governance procedures and policies are up to date and accessible.


  • The role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in embedding, and continually improving, excellent risk and assurance practices in a government Executive Agency that places a strong emphasis on sound systems of governance, risk management and internal control.

    With a keen eye for detail, the successful candidate will need to be highly organised, self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and confidence to work directly with very senior managers.
