This post is for 7.5 hours per week and is fixed term until 27/06/2025.

 

To undertake duties concerned with the safe passage of school children across roads to and from school including the direction of traffic at crossing areas.

To ensure the safety of children crossing the road at designated points between specified times during the day.

Able to maintain control over children who are awaiting your instructions to cross.

To switch on and off the flashing amber lights where situated, at the beginning and end of duty and to report any faults.

To use all uniform and equipment provided for the safety of yourself, children and other members of the public, especially when stopping traffic on the Highway.

To report any problems or difficulties to Manager.

To carry out the Council’s policy with regard to the School Crossing Patrol Service which includes Health and Safety Procedures.

The post holder will work within national, local authority and school delivered policy frameworks. The post holder is expected to exhibit sound judgement based on these frameworks.

Requirements

If you start out with the normal school session, an adjustment will be made to reduce your first pay.  This is because you are not entitled to be paid for all holidays.  Once this adjustment has been completed, you will receive a 12th of your annual salary thereafter.

 

You will receive an email from our payroll department before your first pay is due to advise of the amount that will be deducted.

 

If you start on the first day of term, this will not apply to you.

 

Please note as this post is part time term time, your salary will be pro rata to hours and weeks worked.
