Full Job Description

As a Barclays Senior Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in Corporate Data Services by designing new data offerings that enable Barclays to harness the power of data and analytics to enhance customer experience and support strategic decision making. You will work with business & technical subject matter experts from across the organisation to understand data and design solutions that meet Data Science use cases., At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). What will you be doing?

  • Understanding and becoming knowledgeable in Payments Data, identifying synergies and discords between different data sets

  • Designing, building, maintaining and communicating data models (conceptual, logical and physical) working in close collaboration with business and technical subject matter experts

  • Profiling and analysing large volumes of data from various sources to support the data model design

  • Reviewing and formulating test scenarios, ensuring that they align to the data model design

  • Developing effective relationships with stakeholders across the organisation to understand financial data

  • Helping and developing junior team members

  • Providing input into risk analyses and development plans to take account of design decisions

  • Using sound reasoning to influence changes in behaviour and recognising when to escalate in a timely manner

    Prior experience as a data modeller/data architect, or with cleaning/analysing data

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences

  • Experience of the agile software development lifecycle, the roles and responsibilities on large projects and the motivations of the actors involved

  • Advanced MS PowerPoint & MS Excel skills


  • Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Knowledge/Experience of Payments &/or Payment Schemes &/or Payment Journeys

  • Knowledge/Experience of MLOPs &/or moving Data Science models into production

  • Hands-on experience of using data modelling tools (e.g. ER/Studio) & R/Python

  • Knowledge of data protection regulations e.g. GDPR
