Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An opportunity has arisen for a Drug and Alcohol Recovery Nurse (either RMN or RGN) to work within the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service in Mid/East Ross and also the wider Drug and Alcohol Service in Highland.

You will work within the Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service but have close links with colleagues within the Community Mental Health Teams and the wider multidisciplinary team. You should possess sound clinical knowledge, be able to demonstrate a wide range of clinical skills-including the ability to offer interventions, harm reduction advice and deliver safe, effective care to a diverse client population. You will be required to carry out assessments, develop and implement treatment plan.  You will be expected to offer supervision and support to junior staff within the team.

This post requires you to work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team and as an autonomous practitioner.  You should possess good interpersonal skills and a commitment to joint working. The preferred candidate will either be already qualified and registered with the NMC as a non-medical prescriber or be willing to undertake this training on appointment.

Significant post registration experience is required as well as relevant experience in the Drug and Alcohol field.

A full current driving license and use of a car for work purposes is essential.
