Mainstay Trust supports adults with learning disabilities across Glasgow. We have around 150 staff who work across housing support, care at home and care home services. We have four Service Managers and most services have a Senior Support Worker to support staff on a day to day basis. We are recruiting a Senior HR Officer to join our team in Glasgow: Purpose of Post: The purpose of the Senior HR Officer role is to support the continuous improvement of the organisation as a whole by providing high quality advice, guidance and support for the effective management of all human resource functions across the organisation. This will include the ongoing development of management team members in understanding and leading with best practice in terms of managing staff as well as ensuring the organisation has robust and effective processes for recruitment, induction, training, registration compliance, absence management and the wellbeing of all staff. It will be beneficial for the individual involved in this role to have an excellent understanding of the care sector and necessary to understand current legislative requirements in this field as well as UK HR and Employment legislation. Main Responsibilities: To manage recruitment and induction process based on organisational needs including advertising, interviewing, pre-employment checks and onboarding To ensure ongoing compliance for all staff in relation to their registration status with the SSSC, including monitoring CPD and registration status To offer guidance in best practice to managers for undertaking investigations in line with the organisations disciplinary/grievance policy and procedure To support managers with all formal meetings including disciplinary and grievance To manage absence and attendance to meet and consistently support required rates To review, update and maintain all policies and procedures relating to the employment relationship To develop and maintain a programme that supports the Fair Work First Guidance to ensure the organisation is compliant with the ethos of this guidance To maintain an effective Staff Wellbeing policy and programme. Key Skills: An excellent understanding of employment legislation within the social care environment, including regulatory bodies Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative Strong interpersonal skills at all levels of engagement Excellent presentation and facilitation skills Excellent communication skills at all levels Proven knowledge of UK HR and Employment legislation, with the ability to use appropriate judgement while working pragmatically to mitigate risk to the organisation Proven track record of conducting disciplinary matters, resolving grievances and supporting staff with short and long term physical and mental health conditions and employment related processes Ability to plan ahead and meet deadlines Proficient in use of Microsoft, excel and database software An ability to gather, analyse and report on data and stats including absence and disciplinary Communication: To promote a positive, settled and stable environment for all staff To identify, record and report all areas of required change to the CEO To lead on interactions with staff in relation to health, safety and wellbeing at work including updating the Staff Area on our website and promote leading by example To have clear objectives for each area of work with realistic expectations communicated to senior management team through monthly reporting Teamwork and Working Relationships: To develop and maintain professional and caring relationships between staff and line managers through continuous improvement activities To proactively engage in positive and professional relationships with all stakeholders involved in the continuous improvement and development of the organisation To work cooperatively as part of a team including attending and contributing to relevant team meetings.
