We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Senior Outreach and Day Support Worker to join our established Supporting Independent Living in the Community Team with in the Portree area.

This permanent post supports our vision of a highly skilled, experienced, flexible workforce that has knowledge and skills in delivering modernised services. You will be supervising a dedicated, professional Care at Home and Housing Support Team delivering a high standard of care within the local communities.  You will be supporting people with a learning disability to achieve their personal outcomes. The work is dynamic and varied.

One of our Service's top priorities is nurturing the next generation of staff. The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic and dedicated to delivering high quality care and enjoy working within a close team of support workers. You will be working with and supported by the Service Manager. You will be provided with expert advice with any complex issues, and supported to develop sound practice within your role.  A full induction will be provided as well as on-going training and support throughout your career.

The right candidate will have of experience in dealing with vulnerable adults, especially people with a learning disability. They must also have good verbal and written communication skills. There would be an expectation that the candidate is qualified at SVQ Level 3 in Care along with a Supervisory SVQ unit, or a willingness and ability to work towards these qualifications within an agreed time scale is an essential part of this post. A full UK driving licence is required by the post holder.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
