Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.

Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician, registered with the GPhC with a proven track record of post-registration experience within Primary Care?  Can you demonstrate clinical knowledge and expertise in providing excellent patient care?  Are you flexible, adaptable and precise in your work, and possess an accuracy checking qualification?

If you have answered yes, then NHS Fife has the perfect role for you.

Every member of our Pharmacy team has our values at the heart of everything they do within NHS Fife.
Care and Compassion
Dignity and Respect
Openness, Honesty & Responsibility
Quality and Team work
If your own personal values match ours then we want to hear from you.

NHS Fife Pharmacy and Medicines Directorate aims to provide the highest quality pharmaceutical care to the people of Fife.  We serve a population of approximately 380,000 people and the service we provide is delivered by an integrated team of around 300 Pharmacy staff.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician with Primary Care experience to join our already an established team in North East Fife primarily working in St Andrews.  You will deliver a clinical pharmacy service to our GP practices and the role will include a range of tasks including medicines reconciliation, review of discharge and outpatient letters, acute, repeat and serial prescription requests, answering medication related queries and medication reviews.   You will also undertake prescribing audits and medication cost efficiency projects.

You will be supported by and work closely with our existing team consisting of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Support Workers and GP Practice Clinicians. Systems training and support will be provided.

Please note this in post and you will be working across a number of different GP practices within North East Fife, therefore the ability to travel is therefore essential as you will be expected to move efficiently and safely across the areas to meet the operational requirements of the service.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
