As a result of a recent restructure, an exciting opportunity has arisen to manage and technically lead our newly established Roads Scope and Standards Team. You will work with a variety of partners, customers, and clients on the delivery of a professional service that maximises resources and delivers positive outcomes.

In this role you will have a responsibility for developing the Council's guidelines for development roads, in line with national standards and codes of practice. You will be expected to provide specialist design advice, support and quality assurance to our internal and external project partners on a wide range of roads and transportation infrastructure projects. These will include: road junction improvements; traffic management schemes; traffic calming schemes; new link roads; active travel; and public transport infrastructure projects.,

  • For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.

    You will have an HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant qualification and Chartered or Incorporated Membership of an appropriate organisation. You will also have: demonstrable knowledge and practical experience of current design standards, including departures from standard; forms of contract; and relevant health and safety legislation, including the CDM Regulations 2015. With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and skilled in the use of industry recognised roads design software.

    You will be business and customer focused with a demonstrable record of, identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes, managing change, and exercising strong leadership skills. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach, and the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines.

    With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and skilled in the use of industry recognised roads design software. You will be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and produce reports and with experience of presenting information in public forums.

    You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Infrastructure and Transportation, who currently operate hybrid model of home-working and office-based work at locations within North Lanarkshire. You will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire as well as the Glasgow City Region to undertake the duties of this post.
