Full Job Description

Are you seeking an opportunity to showcase your leadership and civil engineering expertise? We're looking for a dedicated Site Agent to play a crucial role in managing major power transmission project in the North of Scotland. Here's why you should consider joining the team:

Role Overview: As a Site Agent, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at the new Dounreay Substation. You'll lead a team of workers and subcontractors to ensure that construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.

The project is a high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission system between Finstown in Orkney and Dounreay in Caithness, capable of transmitting no less than 220MW of power and you'll be at the forefront of ensuring that all project objectives are met within specified timeframes and budgetary constraints.

All accommodation, travel and subsistence is covered by the contractor. There is also opportunity to earn substantially more on top of your salary with a generous overtime scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and quality control.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors, including contract negotiations, performance evaluations, and resolving disputes.
  • Monitor progress against project milestones and budgets, identifying and addressing any issues or delays that may arise.
  • Collaborate with the project manager and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and optimise project outcomes.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of site activities, including daily reports, progress photos, and as-built drawings.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure that work is being performed to the required standards and specifications.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to site staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree or diploma in civil engineering or similar.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry, with a strong understanding of site management principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Sound knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and equipment, with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with construction software and tools, such as project management software and AutoCAD, is advantageous.
  • Certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH) is desirable but not essential.

Why Join Us:

  • Opportunity to work on a high-profile project with a reputable civil engineering contractor.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including healthcare, pension, and opportunities for career advancement.
  • Supportive and collaborative work environment where your contributions are valued and recognised.
  • Continuous learning and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in construction management.
