Hamilton School for the Deaf educates and supports deaf children and young people aged 0-18 across South Lanarkshire Council.

Hamilton School for the Deaf is a specialist provision, consisting of Nursery and Primary Departments and is specifically for pupils who require a high level of support to develop language and/or alternative communication skills at these stages. A Total Communication approach is used at all times.

Our purpose-built primary school is situated alongside Glenlee Primary School and Nursery and our learners join their mainstream peers, as and when appropriate. Additionally Visiting Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People, who are based in Hamilton School for the Deaf support deaf learners at home and in a variety of educational establishments across our local authority.

We are seeking to recruit a Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and experienced fully qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People, a skilled communicator with minimum Level 3 BSL qualification and who is committed to delivering the very best experiences for our deaf children and young people.

GTC Registration

It is a legal requirement for any teacher teaching in a Scottish state school to be registered with GTC Scotland, General Teaching Council (Scotland) Registration.
