Full Job Description

My client, a well renowned organisation based in Aberdeen, are looking for a Software Engineer Level 2 to join their team on a full time permanent basis.

The overall objective of the role is as follows:

The development, support, and continuous improvement of software applications including Mobile Applications.

Writing code, bug fixes, performance improvements and interfaces, as may be required.

Carry out testing and implementation of standards.

Peer review of artifacts produced within the team.

Technically supporting the sales process and providing technical input for proposals where needed.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

Development of Web and Mobile Applications, and APIs.

Write unit tests for Projects and test plans for manual tests.

Level 2 & 3 support on the Service Desk for applications.

Design, monitoring and management of Cloud environments and solutions.

Provide/Review estimates and proposed solutions for proposals.

Customer Liaison on technical solutions.

Maintaining code bases by reviewing existing code to identify problematic areas requiring improvement or rewriting.

Keep libraries and servers used up to date.

Quality assurance and regular evaluation of systems to meet quality and stability standard.

Troubleshooting issues related to design, infrastructure or data.

Implementing and providing input on standards for development and deployment.

Generate and update relevant documentation

To be considered, you should have good experience within software development, and would be a good fit for someone with good experience developing within software/mobile applications. Good customer skills are essential for this role, and being able to translate customer requirements into a technical specification is crucial to succeed in this role. Demonstrable experience developing using Java is highly advantageous, but not essential as full training on Java can be provided in the role, presuming you are a fast learner with strong experience in another language.
