Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit to a specialist Band 6 post to work within the Surgical Directorate within the Victoria Hospital in-patient areas. 
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled OT to work alongside colleagues within the surgical team covering the surgical and orthopaedic wards, primarily working within a range of specialist surgical areas; including colorectal, urology, cancer, general surgical and orthopaedics. There will also be a requirement to provide clinical cover for medical patients across the service.

The successful candidate will have a strong interest in working with patients to deliver effective evidenced based care to optimise their occupational performance and to promote safe and timely discharge from hospital.

The successful candidate will have a positive experience of managing their own case load and of multi agency working and will engage in quality improvement activities both collectively and independently.  As a Band 6 you will be required to support and supervise registered and non-registered staff.

The occupational therapy department supports continuing professional development through supervision, TURAS appraisal, in-service programme, and training.  

The post holder should have the ability to travel throughout Fife effectively in a timely manner as required.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
