Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.  

The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00 (30 hours).

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

Specialist Occupational Therapy post in a well-developed Community Mental Health Team within East Dunbartonshire. The post is continually evolving to meet the needs of patient group, with a current Occupational Therapy development plan that you will be able to shape and develop further with the band 5 and 7 occupational therapists. The post holder will be responsible for delivering skilled occupational therapy interventions to individuals with mental health difficulties. The post holder will benefit from inclusion in wider Mental Health Occupational Therapy support and developments within East Dunbartonshire HSCP including regular individual and peer supervision. The OT post has the benefit from shared office space with the Alcohol Drug Recovery Service and Joint Learning Disability Team Occupational Therapy staff to provide further support and joint working.

The post holder will carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions with patients to aid recovery, maximise their functioning and safety within the community. There is an expectation that standardised assessment and tools will be considered during patient intervention to demonstrate the effectiveness of occupational therapy intervention. Effective communication skills are required to provide specialist professional advice to the MDT, other disciplines, carers and agencies.

The occupational therapy team links with the wider mental health occupational therapy service governance structure to support professional and service developments within East Dunbartonshire HSCP, and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. There is an expectation that you will provide student placements.

It is essential you have a Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
