Full Job Description

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Band 5/6

Do you want to work in a department that meets your career goals, offers a good work life balance and provides opportunity to work with emerging technologies?  Would you like to work in a team that is able to travel to various locations throughout the region to offer a vital service to the rural population? Would you like to work in one of the most beautiful areas of the country?
If your answer is yes then the Highland Breast Centre is the department for you.
The Highland Breast Centre provides both symptomatic breast services but is also part of the National Breast Screening Programme serving the population of NHS Highland and the Western Isles.  While there is no on call or weekend working, travel throughout the region does require overnight stays in the more rural locations on a rotational basis.
The centre has installed equipment for carrying out Contrast Enhanced Mammography and recently implemented the use of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis.
This centre has embraced role extension and advanced practice giving opportunities for those interested in advancing their career and perhaps extending to consultant practice in the future.
We welcome interest from ambitious and enthusiastic radiographers with technical and interpersonal skills which will enhance our team.    This post offers the right individual excellent experience in a specialised area of radiography and the potential to progress to an advanced role in due course as the service requires.
Successful candidate will be employed at a band 5 until completion of a post graduate certificate in mammography and meeting the necessary competencies at which point you will be upgraded to a band 6.
The department supports continual professional development with the potential for further education opportunities.
We actively encourage all radiographers to apply, including newly qualified and those due to gain qualification.   Part time and full-time hours will be considered.

There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be female under the terms and conditions of the Equality Act 2010.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
