What you will do:

To provide an accessible and effective nursing service to children and their families, taking forward the public health agenda to maximise the health and wellbeing of all children.  To be involved in the annual Influenza Programme for school age children.

The childhood immunisation programme represents a key public health measure which contributes to the reduction of health inequalities as well as achieving national and local health objectives through the focus on preventative care for preschool and school age children. As part of the immunisation service, you will provide professional nursing skills and knowledge to ensure the effective delivery of the Scottish Childhood Immunisation Programmes.

To work as part of an integrated NHS Early Years, Children and Families Community Nursing team, delivering services in schools and community ensuring high quality patient centred provision which is responsive to personal and local need.

Registered Nurse

Hours:

Minimum of 20 hours per week

Monday Friday 09.00-13.00 pm or 09.00-15.00 pm dependent on School size. Annual Leave week on 14th-18th October.

Fixed Term/Secondment:

Please note this job is a fixed term from 9th September 2024 29th November 2024.

Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
