Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.  

The shift pattern is Monday-Friday (0715-1930hr or 0900-2115hr) subject to change.

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our passionate and dedicated Surgical nursing team within the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This will be based in Same Day Admission Unit. The unit can accommodate up to 14 trolleys & 2 chairs for elective post-operative care.

As part of the team you will be responsible for assessment, delivery and supervision of all care needs within the unit environment. You will possess sound clinical skills for assessment of patients needs, implementation and evaluation of care which are evidence based.

You will have the ability to work to a high clinical standard & ensure post-operative care is maintained. You are required to be forward thinking, flexible and able to work effectively within a changing and dynamic environment.

We can expand your skills and knowledge across a diverse range of Surgical patients. Our team will guide and support you whether you are newly qualified nurse, or if you are just new to our unit/department and facilitate learning and education development.

As part of the multidisciplinary team you will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and the development of a programme of care and the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients. The ability to work on your own initiative, without direct supervision but also as part of the integrated team is required.  You will be required to work within a flexible shift pattern of both days & long day working.

You should possess excellent communication skills and decision making with the evidence of ongoing professional development. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC.
