Full Job Description

Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours Monday - Friday 08.00-16.00 with a 30 minute unpaid break daily

The purpose of this role is to be responsible for defining and implementing supply chain strategies for allocated categories, taking responsibility for the associated tenders, negotiation, agreement implementation and supplier performance. Carries out all procurement activity in an ethical and transparent manner, in line with company processes, ensuring the function provides a timely and value-added service.

Duties include:

  • Develop and document commodity strategies for assigned categories. Combine the identification of suitable suppliers with an analysis of company spend to develop a picture of the supply market landscape, conditions and associated business risks/opportunities.


  • In accordance with developed strategies responsible for compiling, issuing, and co-ordinating all tender activity to third-party suppliers. Will lead the detailed quantitative and qualitative tender evaluation, liaising with key internal stakeholders to evaluate tenders, before seeking and obtaining necessary approvals to award contract in line with DOA.


  • Responsible for negotiating and implementing supplier agreements, targeting commercial optimisation to ensure best value. Additionally responsible for, updating and issuing contract amendments, ensuring the supplier contract database is maintained and frame agreement/contract amendment summary sheets are up-dated.


  • Responsible for key supplier performance and relationship management including regular business review meetings, underpinned by effective KPIs.


  • Establish effective relationships with colleagues and suppliers ensuring a strong communication flow and pro-active approach to identifying and resolving issues.


  • Support the day-to-day transactional procurement activity preparing Requests for Quotes, Purchase Orders and other related documentation ensuring a timely internal service provision.


  • Proactively assist colleagues, mentoring and coaching as required, undertaking ad-hoc duties.

    Demonstrable, established experience in a procurement role


  • Strong experience in contract and commercial negotiations, skilled at analysis and presentation, with a finely tuned attention to detail


  • A problem solver, will take responsibility, is organised and methodical in approach.


  • Proven ability to deal with key suppliers, build relationships and communicate effectively.


  • Able to develop effective relationships with key internal stakeholders, experienced at successfully engaging and influencing individuals.


  • Considerable experience of an ERP system and Microsoft office packages: Excel, Word, PowerPoint


  • Minimum Qualifications

    Educated to Degree Level, preferably in a Business/Commercial discipline.

    Desirable Qualifications/Competencies

    CIPS qualification

    Working knowledge of MS Dynamics AX 2012 or similar systems
