The Scotland England Green Link project portfolio will play a critical role in the achievement of the UK's net zero targets, connecting the low carbon electricity resources in the north of Scotland to demand centres in the south.

The project is implementing a holistic approach to sustainability that encompasses people, communities, the environment and a fair contribution to society.

We currently have an opportunity for a Project Sustainability Manager to join the team and play a key role in the development and delivery of our sustainability ambitions.

These mega projects are fast paced and dynamic. As such you need to be a resourceful self-starter, capable of taking a lead whilst being given overall direction and space to deliver with periodic check ins.

The key duties and responsibilities include:

- Ownership of the project sustainability strategy, working with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve our sustainability goals, communicating the sustainability ambition in a way that is meaningful to project teams and wider stakeholders to build a workplace culture that is passionate about sustainability.

- Take the lead in the development of employer's standards for procurement, pre-qualification, invitation to tender and associated assessments. This includes deliverables and KPI development.

- Stand as a focal point for sustainability technical advice, providing support as required to project teams and working with contractors to ensure that sustainability requirements are delivered and that opportunities to innovate or exceed performance are identified.

- Develop approaches, tools and systems to enable measurement of our sustainability performance and ensure sustainability reporting requirements are met in an efficient manner, advising project leadership on sustainability goals, opportunities and performance.

- Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders, particularly EGL Contracting Partners pre and during execution across the field of sustainability and assess developments in sectoral, national and international best practices, representing the project at relevant forums and through presentations to stakeholders and working groups., At SSEN Transmission, we take immense pride in owning and operating the high-voltage electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland. A passion for making a difference with demonstrated achievements in business sustainability. Ideally hold a relevant degree qualification in a sustainability-related subject or have relevant business experience and knowledge in the analytical and organisational techniques for sustainability performance management, including data gathering and reporting.

- Knowledge of the sustainability sector, with a broad understanding of environmental, societal, and economic impacts. Specific knowledge in areas of carbon, circular economy, biodiversity net gain, natural capital and social value would be desirable.

- Experience of implementing sustainability practices in the energy, utility or construction sector and a working knowledge of relevant regulatory and best practice frameworks. This would include experience of going "beyond compliance" to deliver sustainable benefits.

- Demonstrate knowledge and implementation of sustainability frameworks and practices across projects including BREEAM framework and PAS 2080.

- Strong networking and engagement capabilities across a diversity of internal and external stakeholders in many fields.
