Full Job Description

Your role as Financial Systems administrator plays a pivotal role ensuring that Cognos Controller is maintained, enhanced and that users receive effective customer service to our 250 global users in response to issues and/or change requests, whilst ensuring that documented procedures are adhered to.
You will review and assess the impact of the change requests, developing the requirements, testing, and promoting content through to the live application with a commitment to driving efficiency and excellence in financial reporting.
You will work as part of a team that is responsible for the systems readiness for each reporting cycle as well as managing user security, which includes a bi-annual internal security review and acting as primary liaison for external auditors and providing general support and training.
The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to support our team during an exciting period of change in Weir, exposed to the adoption of best-in-class new systems and processes. This role will contribute to all Financial Systems team responsibilities and report to the Group Finance Systems Manager.

  • Focus Area: Collaborating with key stakeholders to understand business requirements implementing changes during the downtimes to effectively prepare the systems for the month-end, Budget, and forecasts cycles.

  • Focus Area: Delivery of excellence through the system readiness for each reporting cycle.

  • Focus Area: Responsiveness to user issues and requests; including liaison with other key stakeholders and departments such as Treasury, IT and Corporate Finance, as necessary.


  • Focus Area: To carry out technical development work, ensuring change control is adhered to; co-ordinating appropriate test activities; working through the entire development life cycle following best practice, internal high standards, producing the documentation and evidence required for the internal and external audits.

    A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, information technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience working with Cognos Controller or similar financial close consolidation systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the teams and stakeholders or work independently, adapting to the situation. Managing multiple tasks, prioritising the workload, and meeting the deadlines.

  • Knowledge of the consolidation process and financial reporting principles.
