Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an M365 Systems Development Manager on an exclusive basis with the University of Glasgow. The position will be based at their offices at Tay House in Glasgow City Centre.

This is a new role to manage small M365 Development team consisting of junior to more senior team members. Although beneficial, the suitable candidate does not need to be a complete developer, but will have experience of managing developers.

  • Salary; 48,350 - 56,021
  • Pension; 20.6% (14.5% employer contribution, 6.1% employee contribution)
  • Annual Leave; 41 days of leave
  • Work Pattern; 35 hours per week,
  • Hybrid: 1-2 Days in the office

Other duties include;

  • Manage and implement University-wide IT systems projects through the project lifecycle including in collaboration with the Project Delivery Team: including producing project plans, procurement, monitoring progress, project reporting, benefits realisation
  • Manage business-as-usual user and system support and training, and the maintenance of corporate systems ensuring a high standard of service delivery, user satisfaction and business continuity
  • Manage the gathering, analysing and documenting of business requirements for existing and new systems, mapping business processes, applying problem solving techniques and identifying future client needs and trends in order to create effective and innovative solutions
  • Manage the development of system changes ensuring coding and release practices are robust, that systems are secure and comply with University regulations and legislative requirements
  • Liaise with Project Teams and/or Business Managers to identify where and how technologies offered by Information Services can provide functionality to meet business needs
  • Provide specialist and strategic advice to senior management, University committees and working groups on approaches to IT systems solutions
  • Attend training courses and conferences, and access training materials as appropriate, to ensure continued familiarisation with new technologies and keep skills up-to-date and maintain an understanding of current and future market trends
  • Manage communications and relationships with project stakeholders, third party suppliers, consultants, professional networks and government

Essential Skills/Experience Required;

  • Detailed knowledge of software development practices, lifecycles and methodologies.

  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies: PRINCE2, Agile.

  • Working knowledge of business process analysis methodologies, e.g. Lean.

  • Working knowledge of service management best practice methodologies, e.g. ITIL.

  • Excellent knowledge of business and planning tools, e.g. MS Project, MS Visio, Jira.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies: M365, SharePoint, Power Platform.

  • Management of complex projects across the full lifecycle with a successful track record of delivery

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams

  • Stakeholder and relationship management skills, including the ability to manage customer expectations and organisational change

  • Ability to acquire technical knowledge rapidly and communicate with technical staff

  • Ability to explain technology solutions to a non-technical audience

  • Substantial experience managing corporate systems support and development, to include the following: design, development, rollout and maintenance of organisation-wide business systems; working with stakeholders to identify development requirements and deliver solutions; analysing business processes and delivering improvement; managing software development teams; managing stakeholder and user engagement; managing product support of live systems.
