An enthusiastic and experienced candidate is required to join the Structures Team, which is responsible for the inspection and maintenance of the Council’s bridge stock of over 1123 bridges and other roads related structures. This role is primarily involved in the preparation of an overall annual programme of bridge maintenance works, along with preparation of and supervision of bridge maintenance schemes, as required, for maintenance works to repair or strengthen bridges and other roads related structures including the use of Safe Working Practices, CDM Regulations, Quality Assurance Systems and Office Procedures. This will include liaising with Statutory Undertakers, affected landowners, householders, businesses, other clients, community representatives and the like. You will also be expected to deal with enquiries from members of the public, community representatives, other Services and outside bodies.
For purposes of connection and collaboration with colleagues and with the community we serve, our full-time employees work on site for a minimum of 2 days per week with the arrangements for part time employees being agreed on a basis which will ensure that they benefit to an equivalent degree. It is desirable that you should have experience within a Local Government Bridge Authority environment and have experience in preparing, procuring and supervising routine maintenance projects on bridges and road related structures and have good financial awareness and communication skills. It is desirable that you should have a working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act, the CDM Regulations 2015 and have the ability to carry out Risk Assessments.
It is desirable that you have achieved or are working towards achieving professional registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) as recognised by the Engineering Council. Good written and oral communication skills are essential.

The Individual

You must have an HNC in Civil Engineering (recognised by The Engineering Council) or equivalent in a related discipline. You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
