Full Job Description

The Camp Counsellor role is essential in making sure campers have a magical experience at Camp. It is a role that will be fulfilling, tiring, super fun and give you the chance to be part of an awesome staff team. There two main aspects to the role, the majority of your time will be spent looking after a cabin group of roughly 10 campers, providing pastoral care for them, waking them up in the morning, eating meals with them and in general ensuring they are having a great time at camp. The other side of the role is running one of our exciting elective activities for two hours twice a day, electives are open to all campers regardless of age or ability

Tennis Camp Counsellors will lead our tennis elective elective at camp. Our Tennis Camp Counsellors will be experienced and confident with leading tennis lessons for groups of young people and have the ability to plan engaging and inclusive tennis sessions for different ages and abilities. If you are passionate about tennis and want to share your passion with young people this could be the role for you.

At camp you'll become more than just a Camp Counsellor, you'll become a friend,an older sibling, a role model, a hero to every camper who walks through our doors. Campers will look up to you as you sing in the dining hall or paint your face for V&C. They will come to you for advice, look to you as a positive role model. They will watch how you navigate interpersonal interactions, communication, problem solving, and leadership. Long after camp has ended they'll continue to tell their camp stories about amazing memories that you made happen.

  • Experience working directly with groups of young people aged 7-17

  • Fluent in English

  • Confidence and competency with leading tennis sessions

  • Ability to be a positive role model for young people

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced and demanding environment

  • Maturity to be responsible for the care, well-being and safety of young people

    Camp Cooper is the UK's leading American-style overnight summer camp based in Scotland, for international & British campers aged 7-17.


  • Campers create a personalised summer program designed to suit their interests.

    At Camp Cooper, we actively encourage campers to develop life skills such as independence, confidence and leadership. We focus on forming friendships, inspiring creativity and having fun.

  • All applicants must successfully pass full background and reference checks

  • All successful applicants must be available to work the duration of the Camp, including staff training.

  • Staff get 1 day off per week, scheduled by the Camp

  • The salary for working at Camp is £4200 for the 7 weeks. This includes room and board (the salary is subject to all normal UK taxes - e.g. PAYE and National Insurance Contributions)

    Camp Cooper - Approximately a 7 Week Commitment

    Summer Employment Dates Start Date: Monday, June 24th, 2024 (10am)

    End Date: Saturday, August 10th, 2024 (4pm)
