Full Job Description

Job Overview: Assist the Distribution Centre Manager in ensuring a safe, efficient workplace that can flex to meet variable demands. Proactively assist with day-to-day workflow in conjunction with Shift Supervisors.

Key Activities:

Goods In: Work with the DC Manager to ensure the Goods in team are fully staffed and trained. Manage the daily goods in process, maintain a safe working environment, and continually review and improve processes.

Order Picking & Dispatch: Ensure the pick/dispatch teams are fully staffed and trained. Manage the daily dispatch process, maintain a safe working environment, and continually review and improve processes.

Health and Safety Management: Support the DC Manager in the safe use of plant, equipment, and systems of work. Assist in accident investigations and the building of new or improving existing process documents.

Continuous Improvement: Develop and enhance the processes and procedures within the Distribution Centre.

Managing Relationships: Interact and cooperate with all company employees, build trust, communicate effectively, collaborate, solve problems creatively, and demonstrate high integrity. Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values. Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all departments. Attend, participate and contribute to internal meetings, ensuring appropriate up to date information is communicated and acted upon. Respond to phone requests and/or emails in a professional and timely manner, maintaining excellent levels of service. Fully understand the many facets of the business and structure in order to value different requirements and act with diplomacy to achieve the best possible outcome. Act as an ambassador for the company ensuring client confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Management and Development of the Team: Ensure the Distribution Centre team carries out their duties accurately and timely. Manage the team's personal development, harness a team-work environment, and provide structured feedback to direct reports. Maintain awareness of current capabilities and performance of individuals discussing any concerns to determine follow up actions. Identify appropriate training, which will enhance individuals' contribution to their role and improve productivity.

Resource Planning: Have a full understanding of company budgets, especially in relation to Distribution Centre. Forward plan for peaks and troughs, with correct number of suitably trained team members and other resources. Manage balance of Temporary and Permanent staff to flex to demand. Manage relationships with key resource partners, including agencies, consumable suppliers etc.
