Livingston James is delighted to be retained by CuanTec to recruit a Logistics & Procurement Manager. Founded in 2017, CuanTec is a ground-breaking biotech company ready to help make incremental changes that positively impact the world we live in. CuanTec's scientists have developed propriety technology to biologically separate Chitin, proteins, minerals and lipids from shellfish and other chitin sources. The Chitin is further refined into more valuable Chitosan.

CuanTec is targeting a rapidly growing market for Chitosan due to its multiple uses across multiple valuable categories. The business is currently pre-revenue and is about to embark on an exciting new chapter as production goes live at its first factory in Glenrothes.

CuanTec is seeking a Logistics & Procurement Manager to help manage the logistics and operations of both inbound and outbound products. The post-holder will work closely with the Plant Manager, Sales Manager and other key stakeholders to understand the supply and demand of CuanTec’s offering and facilitate both.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

To manage the effective and efficient delivery and storage of inbound feedstock (raw shell) and consumables (chemicals, energy)
To manage the efficient logistics to/from drying operation and the storage and delivery of outbound product (and by-product) to customers (national and international)
To source suppliers for by-products and chemicals used in the production process
To negotiate contracts for the procurement, transportation and storage of products

A summary of the key candidate requirements is as follows:

Demonstrable experience in managing the logistics (transport and storage) of industry biomass-based by-products (sometimes categorised as waste, but also for upcycling)
Demonstrable experience in managing the logistics (transport and storage) of industrial chemicals
Demonstrable track record of managing negotiations with storage and logistics organisations
Candidates should have excellent numeracy and communication skills, with an aptitude for problem-solving
This role is suited to someone who is a self-starter, proactive, energetic, and can make decisions based on fact and commercial awareness
Full driving license required
