An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Highland Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our rapidly expanding team.

The community nursing team is an integral part of CAMHS and we have experienced success with a focused recruitment drive over the last year which has allowed us to substantially expand our nurse provision in the department. We have invested heavily in the support structure for our nursing staff and the postholder will occupy a key role in ensuring our vision for clinical excellence is reached.

We are seeking an experienced registered nurse who is enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to working with young people who may have multiple and complex needs.

You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be experienced in psychosocial and mental health assessment, care planning and clinical leadership.

You will be able to demonstrate that you can work within a multi-disciplinary team, hold staff and patient wellbeing at the centre of everything you do and acknowledge challenge as an essential component of leading a team through organisational change.

The work will involve; direct clinical contact with children and young people with severe and complex mental health problems/disorders and their family and carers within The Phoenix Centre, the community and Raigmore Hospital. The post holder will lead on a clinical hub, clinically managing a delegated staff group, devising and implementing operational procedures that advocate best practice whilst fostering a caring and compassionate culture. There will also be opportunities to represent the team both locally and nationally and participation in special interest working groups is encouraged as we continue to invest in our CPD structure and overall learning environment.

The post holder needs the ability to work flexibly which might include working outside normal working hours according to the changing needs of the service but currently CAMHS provide a Monday to Friday 9-5 service.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
