Care worker raises over £1,000 to improve the lives of dementia residents

This commitment to making a difference was beautifully demonstrated by Nisbaan Sayed, a dedicated care worker at CrossReach The Elms, who recently took on a thrilling sponsored abseil challenge. His goal? To raise funds to enhance the lives of residents living with dementia. His efforts not only exceeded expectations but also showcased the incredible sense of purpose that drives our teams every day.

Making a Difference, One Challenge at a Time 

Fueled by his love for adrenaline and a passion for improving the lives of others, Nisbaan’s abseil challenge raised over £1,000 through JustGiving. The money will go towards purchasing an Interactive Activity Touch Table for The Elms. Specifically designed for people living with dementia, this innovative tool will provide residents with engaging games, music, and activities. It’s more than just a piece of equipment it’s a means of creating meaningful moments, stimulating memory, and promoting social interaction.

Reflecting on his motivation, Nisbaan shared: “I wanted to do something that would have a real impact. Seeing the smiles on our residents’ faces makes every effort worthwhile.” 

A Day to Remember 

On the day of the abseil, the CrossReach community came together in a powerful show of support. Residents, along with colleagues, managers, and families, gathered to cheer Nisbaan on as he faced the challenge. The joy and pride on everyone’s faces made the event unforgettable. 

Nisbaan said: “Seeing them there meant everything. I felt proud, and I hope I made their day as much as they made mine.” 

It’s moments like these that highlight the profound connection between care workers and residents a bond built on compassion, respect, and shared joy.

As Nisbaan explained: “Even simple engagement can completely change someone’s mood. When residents are involved, you see more smiles, more conversation, and a real sense of connection.”
