The role of the Department Operations Manager is to provide management, leadership and strategic direction across all departmental operational activities in support of teaching, research, knowledge exchange and internationalisation, including administrative processes; staff resourcing and work space. As a member of the Departmental Management Committee the Department Operations Manager will contribute to departmental strategy and be responsible for ensuring that the department has effective support in terms of resource and procedures. They will have responsibility for monitoring and reporting various aspects of performance, will monitor and report financial performance and oversee the operation and maintenance of the department’s office and administrative facilities. The post will provide significant support to the Head of Department in the day-to-day running of the department.

To be considered for the role you will be educated to a minimum of Degree level in a relevant subject, or have significant equivalent experience. You will have managerial experience in a complex and varied working environment and experience of leading and managing a varied team. Experience of managing projects with multiple inputs is desired. You will have experience of supporting delivery of short and long term strategic plans in alignment with wider organisational targets and objectives and experience of managing significant funds. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a range of stakeholders, strong organisational skills with the ability to delegate effectively and a proven ability to manage change. Whilst not essential for the role, applications are welcome from candidates with managerial experience within a Higher Education setting.
