JOB DESCRIPTION

SENIOR PROPERTY TECHNICIAN / SURVEYOR

Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is seeking a talented property / surveying professional with experience in carrying out statutory valuations for council tax and rating purposes, to help us build upon our successes in delivering on the Assessor’s statutory functions.

You will be allocated an extremely varied workload, being responsible for the survey and valuation of all relevant lands and heritages for the purposes of the Lands Valuation Acts and the Local Government Finance Act 1992.

You will also be responsible for the discussion and negotiation of appeals with taxpayers and professional agents, preparing cases for presentation to the First-Tier Tribunal and appearing as an expert witness at such hearings.

You should be a team player, have excellent communication skills, and be confident managing your own workload, ensuring that all statutory timescales and deadlines are met.

ABOUT US

Who We Are and What We Do

Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board has been established since 1996 and discharges jointly the functions of North, South and East Ayrshire Valuation authorities.

Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board is a council in its own right, separate from the three Ayrshire Councils, comprising 16 members, elected councillors from each of the three authorities for which the Board has responsibility.

The Board appoints the Assessor who is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Valuation Roll and Valuation List, these are the base documents which are required for the three Ayrshire Councils to in gather non-domestic rates and council tax.

The three Councils have also appointed the Assessor to be the Electoral Registration Officer, responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the Register of Electors which is essential for all Parliamentary and Local Government Elections.

The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly between home and the office and the frequency for attending the office may vary depending on the exigencies of the service.
