HIGHLAND HOME CARERS

Full Job Description

Highland Home Carers is the leading home care provider in the Highlands and is at the forefront of the care profession in Scotland.

From long term complex care through to support with everyday living, HHC can provide a high-quality care service, tailored to individual requirements. Our service allows people to remain independent in the comfort of their own home, without compromising the quality of their care.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will provide essential care and support to people within their own homes. Duties involve supporting individuals to live as independently as possible by supporting and assisting them with domestic skills such as cooking and enabling them to enjoy a wide range of other activities (visiting family and friends, assisting with shopping, social outings, walks and many more).

Dedicated Package

As a result of the personal care involved in this role, we can only accept female applicants for this role. This constitutes a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010.

We are looking for two caring, fun loving Support Practitioners to support a young lady in their own home and to ensure they maintain independence and their active social life in the local area of Kirkhill.

This is a ONE to ONE support package, requiring two Support Practitioners to share the shifts across 21hrs a week, over Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

This is a highly rewarding role which can also be challenging at times, so it is important that applicants are confident in following structured routines, setting clear and positive professional boundaries and remaining calm, patient and consistent.

About the individual

  • My name is Jennifer, but I prefer to be called Jen, I have a great sense of humour and enjoy fun and don’t take life too seriously.
  • I enjoy going to the cinema and bowling
  • I love going out for lunch and like having days out to meet up with my friends.
  • I am looking for two people to support me to be independent and have access to my local areas. I am looking for them to support me on a ONE to ONE basis.
  • I have my own mobility vehicle which enables me to travel in my wheelchair. This is a manual vehicle so anyone looking to apply must have a full UK driving licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle.

Main Duties

  • Providing person-centred support in the individuals’ own home and local areas
  • Supporting daily routines, personal care, activities, and independence
  • Encouraging positive choices while maintaining clear, consistent boundaries
  • Supporting access to the community and activities

You don’t need to have experience of care and support work, but you need to be committed to making a difference to people’s lives by delivering high-quality care and support.

Personal Attributes/Professional Responsibilities

  • Calm, patient, reliable and have a fun-loving can-do attitude to life
  • Confident in following routines and support plans
  • Full & valid UK Driving Licence is required (the individual has her own vehicle)
  • Previous care experience is beneficial but not essential – full training provided
  • To be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • To complete HHC Induction and ongoing training programme.
  • Undertake and attend any job-related training, regular team meetings or review meetings as requested.
  • Adhere to HHC policies and procedures.
  • Understanding Risk Assessments in relation to your role within HHC.

Benefits of working for HHC

  • £13.50 standard hourly rate
  • Access to Early Pay (a system that allows you to draw down your salary in advance of the monthly pay date)
  • Paid training delivered at our Adult Social Care Academy
  • Free SVQ opportunities within our own SQA Centre
  • 6.2 Weeks Holidays (Pro-rata for part time)
  • As an employee-owned company any annual profits and shares in the company are shared equally regardless of role (subject to qualifying period)
  • Free Uniforms and PPE (where required)
  • Contributory Pension Scheme (Company pays 4%)
  • Access to company pool cars to perform duties in emergencies
  • Company sick pay
  • Refer a friend scheme (£500 per referral, terms and conditions apply)
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Scheme for you and your family run by Health Hero
  • The ability to join the Blue Light Card Scheme that brings you huge savings on the brands you love

Overseas Applicants Please note

  • As this role is Part Time - it is therefore not suitable for overseas applicants
