Full Job Description
Information Services is seeking to appoint Weekend Library Supervisors with established library, IT, and customer service skills to be responsible for the operation of the Library, provision of a 1st line reference and enquiry service and the supervision of a small team of weekend library staff.
There are several posts available, offering a range of working patterns including continuing posts working either one or two in three Saturdays or Sundays, as well as an option to provide maternity cover from September 2026 for approximately 9 months.
The IS Enquiry Service deals with a variety of enquiries from University students, staff and visitors. Applicants should have experience of working in a library, information or IT support service in a customer facing role. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook software packages is essential. A library qualification and knowledge of library circulation policies would also be an advantage.
You will offer an excellent enquiry service directly to the customer and be able to distinguish when onward referral of enquiries is appropriate.
You will be expected to work on a rota basis on Saturdays or Sundays from 1200-1700 in term time (September-May). Shifts to be worked will be allocated in advance.
The post is located in the Customer Services Team, based in the Andersonian Library, the main enquiry point for students and academic staff, dealing with all enquiries.
Applicants may use tools such as AI to support their application; however, all submissions must accurately reflect their own experience and understanding. The University reserves the right to verify the authenticity of application materials and may reject applications where concerns arise.
