If Yes, then we may have the Kitchen for you. We are currently seeking a keen and motivated Chef de Partie to join our Kitchen team at St Columba's Hospice Care. Our chef's are responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food to the highest standard for Hospice patients, staff (breakfast and lunch), the Iona Café, and hospitality events.

You must be patient-focused and able to demonstrate practical experience and knowledge of allergens, nutritional content, and therapeutic diets.

You will ensure food safety standards are maintained at all times by following HACCP procedures, food hygiene regulations, and site-specific HACCP plans to meet set standards for food safety and service delivery.

Additionally, you will work within agreed catering budgets in line with management guidance.

Previous experience as a Chef, the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, together with good communication skills are essential for the role. Experience of working within a healthcare setting would be an advantage.

Hours and work pattern:

The kitchen is open 7 days per week, providing breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will work 4 days out of 7 and workdays are allocated on a rota basis, which includes weekends and bank holidays. You will work 1 in 3 weekends.

A typical rota pattern would consist of:

Week 1: Saturday & Sunday 7am-6pm, Monday & Tuesday 7am-4pm

Week 2 & 3: Tuesday & Wednesday 7am-6pm, Thursday & Friday & 7am-4pm

Payment:

Starting salary of £33,384 WTE (which includes £3,172 pa Shift Allowance) pro rata (based on 37.5 hours per week)

Salary rising to £34,656 WTE (which includes £3,293 pa Shift Allowance) after 12 months satisfactory performance review, pro rata (based on 37.5 hours per week)

Any additional weekend hours, over and above your contracted hours, are paid at time and a half.
