s1jobs is an excellent place to start searching for roles in the education sector and if you are a patient person with an aptitude for bringing out the best in others, special educational needs teacher jobs might just be for you.
SEN teachers can work with a wide range of children and adults who suffer from physical or mental disabilities or who have behavioural problems. In some cases SEN teachers may also be required to work with people who are especially gifted and talented in one subject.
In order to apply for a role like this you will need a teacher training degree that covers special educational needs, as well as being registered with the General Teaching Council. You may also wish to specialise in certain areas such as visual impairment, hearing loss or assistance with speech.
Most SEN teacher jobs are in the public sector but there are also vacancies in the private and voluntary sectors.
Experience is vital so for a better chance when applying for special education needs teacher jobs, consider volunteering in schools, youth clubs or community schemes. Alternatively, take a look at our listings to apply for a position in this field.
